What Is A Colour Image Consultant?

Discover Your Most Flattering Colours

A colour image consultant will make you aware of which colours work best for you as an individual, and even  which colours you should avoid. Establishing your best colours will, quite simply, improve your appearance and make you look more healthy.

The purpose of a colour image consultancy – also known as a colour analysis – is to help you build confidence through the use of colour. The process establishes the best aspects of personal style and appearance through the use of colour for your wardrobe, make-up, hair and jewellery.

Colour Image Consultant

A colour image consultant will establish your most flattering colours: ideal for choosing clothes

Knowing which colours flatter you best will enable you to make the most of your wardrobe. Shopping for clothes and make-up becomes easier and more successful. It eliminates unwise clothing choices which saves you time and money. Considering most of us only regularly wear about 15% of our existing wardrobe it will give you the opportunity to purchase only clothing that will be both flattering and boost your confidence. Knowing your right colours is particularly useful when choosing the right outfit for interviews, weddings and special occasions.

How Does An Image Consultancy Work?

Firstly, book an appointment with a trained and experienced colour image consultant. One session is all you need and should last at least an hour. Any make-up that you might be wearing should be removed. The majority of the session is spent in front of a mirror while different shades of numerous coloured drapes are placed on your chest area so that you can see the difference the various colours make to you. This process establishes whether you have a cool or warm skin tone and also which seasonal category you come under, e.g. warm Autumn.

Colour Image Consultancy Swatch

After the colour analysis you can take away your own colour swatch to help you make choices when out shopping for clothes and make-up

Once your colour analysis is complete you will receive a detailed wallet containing your best colours which you can keep in your handbag, making it easy to refer to when out clothes shopping or buying make-up.

St. Tropez Everyday Mousse image

St. Tropez Everyday Mousse

“I love the St. Tropez Everyday Mousse. It dries instantly and leaves your skin with a natural tan which isn’t too obvious but makes people ask if you have been on holiday. It doesn’t have the tell tale smell that some fake tans do and being a mousse it is really easy to apply. I highly recommend it! : )”

St. Tropez Everyday Mousse is available at Beautytime for £20.00

What Is Shellac?

Shellac is a revolutionary way of having your nails manicured. In short, it is a smudge free, chip proof, instantly dry manicure.

Shella Manicure Nails imageA Shellac manicure involves having your nails painted with a nail polish that is a hybrid of a normal nail laquer and the gel that you find in acrylic nails. After each coat – base, colour and top coat – your nails are placed under a small, specially designed UV lamp which sets the laquer. The revolutionary part is that your nails do not need any drying time and lasts for a chip-free two weeks. 100% dry nails that will not chip or dull for 14 days!

The Shellac manicure treatment was launched by CND (Creative Nail Design) in May 2010, and since then it has steadily been taking the beauty industry by storm. Over the course of 18 months the treatment has become critically acclaimed and has picked up numerous beauty awards.

Would you like to see what all the fuss is about? Book a Shellac manicure today at Beautytime Health and Beauty Clinic, one of South Devon’s longest running beauty salons, and become a convert.

Do Your Research Before Booking A Fish Pedicure

The novelty beauty treatment of Garra Rufa Fish Pedicures was back in the spotlight this week with the Health Protection Agency announcing their findings about the treatment’s association with the spread of infection. Beautytime first came across the Garra Rufa fish pedicures at a beauty industry exhibition early last year. As a beauty treatment it was very quirky and certainly a unique selling point. After close analysis of the costs and the practicalities of running such an operation the decision was made by Beautytime not to venture down the fish pedicure route. Since then, however, Garra Fish pedicures have been popping up everywhere, with even salons offering just fish pedicures opening up and down the country.

It has long been known in the beauty industry that this treatment is banned in some U.S. states and Canadian provinces due to it being regarded as unsanitary. The U.K.’s Health Protection Agency, in releasing new guidelines this week about fish pedicures, have drawn attention to the fact that there is the risk of infection.

Dr Hilary Kirkbride, consultant epidemiologist at the HPA, said: “Provided that good standards of hygiene are followed by salons, members of the public are unlikely to get an infection from a fish spa pedicure, however the risk will be higher for certain people.

The advice they offer is to avoid the treatment if you suffer a weakened immune system or medical condition such as psoriasis or diabetes as you are more at risk of infection. However, providing that the salon or spa are maintaining strict codes of cleanliness with the fish and their tanks then the risk of infection is very low.

The Health Protection Agency’s new guidelines have once again put a focus back on fish pedicures and inevitably the concerns aired by animal welfare groups, the RSPCA in particular, have also been revisited.
The RSPCA highlighted some months ago that they were not happy with the welfare of the Garra Rufa fish used for fish pedicures, arguing that they need a stable environment and would be affected by temperature changes and the quality of the water, especially as people’s feet can give off the chemicals associated with foot lotions, nail varnish and toiletries. In addition, overcrowding of fish can lead to higher levels of ammonia which can also have a damaging affect their health, along with other factors, such as direct sunlight.

If you are considering having a fish pedicure it is fairly safe to say that you need to research the establishment you are going to visit, check that they are observing the codes of cleanliness and that the fish are being well looked after.

If you would like to have a more orthodox treatment, such as a Total Indulgence Pedicure or a Luxury Pedicure, without fish and with a highly qualified and experienced beauty therapist, then we would be only too happy to help.

Top 10 Beauty Treatments at Beautytime Health and Beauty Clinic

Due to constantly being asked what our most popular treatments are we have succumbed to demand and come up with our very own Top Ten Beauty Treatments.

1. Massage

Hot Stone Massage

Of the many massage treatments on offer at Beautytime, Hot Stones Massage is the most popular

It is difficult to beat a treatment that is good for you physically, mentally and emotionally. We also have a wide variety to choose from:

  • Back Massage
  • Aromatherapy Massage
  • Hot Stones
  • Sports Massage
  • Swedish Massage
  • Indian Head Massage

One of our favourites of all the massages, and funnily enough one of the most popular at the salon, is our Hot Stones Massage.

2. Facials

Our clients love to be pampered, and there is no better way than with a relaxing facial.  There are a wide variety of facials to choose from, lasting either around 30 or 60 minutes. It’s a popular treatment because it is relaxing, you feel pampered and best of all your skin is left looking clearer and healthier.

3. Manicures

Our manicures have become even more popular since we introduced OPI nail varnish and a bright, spacious manicure area. You cannot beat a manicure for wonderful looking nails and our clients certainly agree.

4. Waxing

There are quite a few to choose from: half leg wax, eyebrow shape, lip and chin, bikini line, etc…even men’s waxing! We are one of the best beauty salons for waxing because we use tea tree wax (which the clients love!) and have highly experienced therapists carrying out the treatment.

5. Electrolysis

It’s a safe and a proven permanent method of hair removal. Again, clients are safe in the knowledge that the electrolysis is being carried out by a highly qualified therapist and is using quality equipment (a sterile gold insulated needle for each client). The salon is also approved by our local authority (Teignbridge Council) to carry out electrolysis.

6. Pedicures

This treatment has received a boost since our introduction of our Total Indulgence Pedicure and also the Luxury Pedicure. As with our manicures we use OPI nail varnish which is a great bonus for the clients.

7. Spa Body Treatments

FacialsOur spa treatments were introduced at the beginning of the summer and have been enthusiastically received by people looking for luxury day spa treatments. There are four to choose from, including Body Rehydration, Purifying Back Treatment and the De-Tox Dead Sea Mud Wrap.

8. St. Tropez Tan

Our salon tans are more effective than spray tans because before the St. Tropez self tan is applied your body is given a full exfoliation, which is not only good for the skin but means the tan will last longer than a tanning treatment using a spraying technique.

9. Thread Vein Treatment.

Also referred to as Red Vein Removal, this treatment is the effective way of removing spider veins, spider naevi, milia and facial veins.

10. Colour Analysis

A beauty treatment that is going to make you look slimmer, make your skin glow and your eyes look clearer, simply by discovering which are your most flattering colours is always going to be a popular choice of treatment.

Colour Analysis: look slimmer and healthier simply by establishing which colours compliment you the best

We hope that you have enjoyed our Top 10 of beauty treatments. If would would like more information you can either go to our homepage at www.beauty-time.com or visit our Full List of Beauty Treatments page.

Which Is Better: A Manual Tan or A Spray Tan?

Firstly,  you might be thinking what is the difference between a manual tan and a spray tan? The former is applied by a beauty therapist whereas the latter is sprayed on. So which is better? The answer is a simple one: the manual tan. The reason for this is because with a manual tan the body is given a full exfoliation before the tan is applied. This way the skin is more like a blank canvas before the self-tan goes on. An exfoliation removes dead skin cells, previous tans and any other products that are on the skin. The self-tan is then applied to fresh skin which means that it will last longer and fades more evenly.

St. Tropez Tanning Treatments

The benefits of a manual tan greatly out weigh those of a spray tan.

Another advantage a manual tan has over a spray tan is the fact that it is rubbed into the skin in contrast to the spray tan which once sprayed on just ‘sits’ on the skin. This is another reason that the manual tan lasts longer.

One final advantage in favour of the manual tan is that it usually comes in cream form which has a lot more hydrating benefits for the skin, resulting in a better finish.

Beautytime beauty salon in South Devon offer two St. Tropez tanning (manual) treatments: Full Body (60 minutes) and Legs or Upper Body (30 mins). For more details and prices please click through to Beautytime’s St. Tropez Tanning Treatments page.
